on being known

i have never seen a truck with my name on the side of it before.

and so here’s my proposal for an alternative mccoy’s advert campaign:

keep texas personable

i call, talk to people i know, who know my voice when i say hello and answer with ‘oh, hi brooke, how are you?’ and then when i ask if i can have more wood that afternoon (as if three trips in three days weren’t enough already, with edits during the evening hours to boot) they say ‘sure.’

this house building is all about people.  speaking spanish or english, sharing cokes over the fence (on both sides and with a lot of chatting), being invited into warm kitchens for coffee and giving tours to friends.  and then the happiness of seeing my name – not last – on the side of a truck.
